Dance Recital

Chelsea had her first ballet recital today. She did such a wonderful job. We had been so concerned with this performance because for six months of her class I was having to sit in the dance room with her. Then all of a sudden, about 3 or 4 weeks ago, she realized that she could do it on her own. Today, she was so excited to go on stage and she wanted to go back on after her part was over! My baby girl is growing up. All along we were in hopes this class would help her with her seperation anxiety and I think it has. Now for preschool in the fall...

Following in my footsteps...

Chelsea has learned a lot since the birth of Nathan, for example, that babies need binky's, that baby brothers need LOTS of love, and babies eat boobs. She has been very inquisitive since the beginning about it and I don't try to hide it because it is a natural part of life. I still have pains of guilt for not being able to breastfeed Chelsea for very long, but I know it was best for her. Nathan on the other hand has always preferred the breast. I have started to hear the question of when we are going to stop. At first, I just wanted to make it to Christmas, then spring break, and now 1 year. So, in August, we will see where we are.

Memorial Day

We spent Memorial Day at the resort of Mimi and Pops (that is what we call it because the pool is resort-like). Chelsea and Nathan loved it.

Nathan was all tuckered out from swimming and the lack of a morning nap. Mimi had the tough job of snuggling with him.

Just some pictures...

We try so hard to get Nathan to smile, but he usually ends with the "deer in the headlights look." Maybe one day he will get it.

Playtime in the week of the Gongora's

With both Mark and I being teachers, we get to spend lots of quality time together. It is wonderful to play every evening and do everything together. Here are just a few recent pictures of us together.Chelsea's love sent Brother Bear on a tumble.
Nathan's new silly face.

Our sweet boy is just "lion around."

Getting ready for Cruz's birthday party. We had a blast.

Hats off to a great week.

Mommy's little boy. Mark says that I am already wrapped around his little finger and I would have to agree.

Loving ... a little too much

I am always amazed by my children. Like the times when Chelsea actually listens what I tell her, when both of them behave well in public, and, of course, how wonderfully smart, sweet, and precious both of them are in their own way. Most of all though, I am amazed by the bond of the two of them. And it may be a little bit more on Chelsea's end than Nathan's, but it is still sweet to see. Chelsea is always wanting to love on him and make him happy. She wants him to take a bath with her and sleep in bed with her (as seen above). She protects him when she feels he may be endanger, ie the doctor's office. Sometimes Nathan is a little irritated with this and will fuss, but who wouldn't when you being loved so profusely. As the mother of these two beings, I couldn't ask for more. It is wonderful that they get along so well and can now even play together. I am one happy mommy!

Monkey See, Monkey Do

In becoming a mom of two, I expected jealousies of toys, attention, and food, but never the small things such as getting ready to take a bath. When Nathan is stripped down for a tubby, Chelsea, inevitably, needs a bath too. This is becoming more evident as Nathan is being moved from his bath seat in the sink to the big tub that Chelsea uses. The amount of excitement that Chelsea displays in this nightly routine equals the amount of disgust and anger Nathan has found for his new bathing location. He has always been one to fight change, but the screaming is out of character for him. His reaction is worse than getting shots. We try giving him a toy or even singing, but neither works. So for now it is a quick two minute scrub then off to dry. We know he will enjoy it someday.
